Commuter Alert: I-476, Roosevelt Blvd Major Repairs To Cause Delays

I-476 Paving and Resurfacing To Cause Delays, Closures Late Summer into Early Fall

A major roadwork project fixing some of the damaged and deteriorated portions of I-476 has been rescheduled to begin Friday. The project, which is funded by part of Pennsylvania's new transportation plan, will cause lane closures and delays in the overnight hours in both directions on the highway through stretches of Delaware and Montgomery counties. Work will take place on weeknights between 9 p.m. and 5 a. m.

Resurfacing and repaving will occur in the below areas:

  • Northbound travel lanes between the Route 3 and U.S. Route 30 interchanges in Delaware County
  • Northbound right lane from the Delaware County line to the Montgomery Avenue overpass, just south of the Interstate 76 Interchange in Montgomery County
  • Northbound middle lane at the Montgomery Avenue overpass in Montgomery County
  • Southbound right lane from the County Line Road overpass to the Route 30 Interchange in Delaware County
  • Southbound middle and right lanes from just south of the Marple Road overpass to the Route 3 Interchange in Delaware County
  • Southbound middle lane at Marple Road in Delaware County
  • Southbound acceleration lane and right lane from the Interstate 76 East on-ramp to the Delaware County line

  • The project is expected to be finished by late September.

Paving Project on Roosevelt Boulevard/RT-1 Expected To Cause Delays:

A major PennDOT paving project on the Roosevelt Boulevard could impact your morning commute for the next few months. Crews will begin working tonight, Monday August 11th, at 8 p.m. stripping blacktop from the northbound lanes of the Boulevard between 9th Street and Adams Avenue.
Resurfacing work will be done on the northbound and southbound inside lanes of the Roosevelt Boulevard from 9th Street all the way to the Bucks County line.  The 12-mile stretch of the boulevard will be paved in sections between now and October 31.  Work will begin each night at 8 p.m. and wrap up about 6 a.m.  The outer drives will remain open during the construction, but PennDOT says to expect delays.
